However, they aren't immediate friends. In their first meeting, Ann attends a public forum to discuss the giant hole behind her house.
Ann's surprised when Leslie takes it seriously and makes an effort to help. The pit brought them together, and they became the best of friends. Indeed, Leslie is devastated when Ann and Chris leave Pawnee.
As noted, Leslie Knope is an overbearing and unbearable boss in the first episode. She annoys her staff and drives them crazy. However, audiences reacted poorly, so the series made some changes. Not only did they make slight changes to Leslie's character but made significant changes with her co-workers too.
Leslie's team responds to her differently and positively. She might annoy them from time to time, but they respect her and always do what she wants. They want her approval and genuinely care for her.
