GARY Barlow has confirmed that a Take That film will be released next year.
The 49-year-old star appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier today, where he announced that fans don’t have too much longer to wait for Greatest Days! – the movie adaptation of the group’s hit musical The Band.
Gary confirmed the film will be released next year[/caption]Gary said: “We’ve got a film coming out next year featuring all our music.”
Host Piers Morgan revealed that he’d written the band’s biography back in the ’90s, and was quick to ask who’d be playing him in the movie.
The singer laughed off the question, joking that he would be the “baddie”.
Gary and his bandmates Howard Donald and Mark Owen previously said in a statement that Greatest Days! is “dedicated to all those who have supported us throughout the years”.
It is an adaptation of the group’s West End musical The Band[/caption] Take That shot to fame in the ’90s[/caption]They added: “It’s a celebration of our music but it’s literally all about the fans and their friendships.
“Our fans have been on a 30-year journey with us and we have an incredibly strong bond with them, so seeing that they will be represented on screen by such a strong, talented cast is incredibly exciting.”
Three names have been attached to the film already; Ruth Wilson, Cush Jumbo, and Rosamund Pike, and Coky Giedroyc has signed on as director.
Take That will executive produce alongside David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers.
The story focuses on a boyband’s dedicated fanbase[/caption]Deadline reported that the movie will follow the lives of five schoolgirls after an incredible night watching their favourite boyband in concert, adding: “25 years later, their lives have changed in a myriad of ways as they reunite to reminisce about their past and discover their future”.
This is the same as the official synopsis for Take That’s West End show The Band, which read: “What is it like to grow up with a boyband? For five 16-year-old friends in 1992, ‘the band’ is everything.
“Twenty-five years on we are reunited with the group of friends, now 40-something women, as they try once more to fulfil their dream of meeting their heroes.”
Take That are executive producers on the film[/caption]The musical featured all of Take That’s biggest hits and enjoyed a limited run in London from 1 December 2018 to 12 January 2019.
Gary previously said of the movie adaptation: “Yes, it’s happening. The script is being written by Tim Firth, who did the musical, and it will be shooting next year.”
He jokingly added: “Think they’re getting Brad Pitt to play me.”
