Pictures reveal the huge strides a recovering drug addict has made in turning his life around as he marks 700 days of being sober.

Travis Robinson posted stark before and after pictures reveal the remarkable extent of his recovery from the throes of an addiction to opiates and benzodiazepines.

To celebrate his 745th day without drugs on May 13, Travis tweeted: ‘I’m finally alive.’

His post inspired hundreds of others to post similarly impressive transformation pictures of their own journeys to recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

Travis, from the US, posted a picture of his face in the midst of his addiction, with pale blemished skin, bloodshot eyes and hollow, gaunt cheeks.

His hair is overgrown, greasy and his bones visible.

The second picture, taken over two years after he got clean, makes clear the terrible a toll drugs can take on the body.

In it Travis is smiling, his skin with a healthy glow, his eyes bright and a smile on his face.

‘LETS GOOOO!!! Wild i used to look so dead alll the f***ing time. i’m finally alive,’ he tweeted.

The tweet quickly went viral before being reposted to Reddit where commenters wrote: ‘The guy who pulled himself together deserves all the recognition.’

Travis told those supporting him online that getting clean was the ‘hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life’.

‘[I] stayed in rehab for over a year and a half because I couldn’t trust myself,’ he said.

Once out, he used the ‘I Am Sober’ mobile app to track his sobriety, and his health improved in other ways, too.

Travis said he stopped drinking soda and eating fast food, adding that ‘most importantly, [I] drank a ton of water and stopped touching my face.’

The support poured in on social media, with thousands applauding Travis and sharing how happy they were for his recovery.
