Amid wind warnings, half a dozen vegetation fires were burning Friday evening and Saturday in the Bay Area.

- Lakeville Fire. Started Friday afternoon east of Petaluma. As of Saturday morning, 141 acres, 90% contained.
- McGary Fire. Started Friday afternoon off Interstate 80 near Cordelia. Contained at 117 acres. Twelve houses threatened, none damaged.
- Wildlife Fire. Started Wednesday from a makeshift cooking grill. Four houses were destroyed and seven others damaged. The remnants of the 300-acre fire are burning themselves out in an isolated area of marshland south of Suisun City.
- Birds Landing Fire. Started Friday afternoon. Wind turbine and grass burned. Contained at about 300 acres on Friday evening.
- Potrero Hill grass fire. Started Friday afternoon near Connecticut and WIsconsin streets, San Francisco. Homes on Dakota Street evacuated, 2½ acres burned, one man injured.
- Patterson Pass fire. Started Friday afternoon. Altamont Corridor Express train held at a siding because of damage to tracks; passengers shuttled in taxis.
- Colleen Fire. Started Thursday night in San Jose’s Santa Teresa Hills. As of 7 a.m. Saturday, 126 acres, 90% contained.
In addition to the vegetation fires, crews on Friday night battled a large structure fire in San Lorenzo. The roof of the historic Lorenzo Theater was almost completely burned through by the blaze, which was contained around 9 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Carquinez Strait and Delta areas, including the cities of Fairfield, Suisun City, Stockton and Modesto. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of up to 40 mph are expected from 5 to 11 p.m.
Visitors to the Golden Gate Bridge during the high westerly winds have posted recordings of a “singing” noise, the result of a recent handrail retrofit.
