FINES for parents who breached lockdown for childcare could be reviewed after the Dominic Cummings row, the Health Secretary said tonight.
Matt Hancock said he would speak to Treasury colleagues to see whether they could tweak the rules to make sure that people are reimbursed if they left their homes to get care for their kids in lockdown.
Mr Hancock said: “We do understand the impact and the need for making sure that children get adequate childcare – that is one of the significant concerns we have had all the way through this.
“I think especially coming from a man of the cloth, I think that is perfectly reasonable to take away that question.
“I will have to talk to my treasury colleagues before I can answer it in full.
“We will look at it. If we can get your details, we will make sure we write to you with a full answer, and make an announcement from this podium, I think we can make that commitment.”
